Time to move on
As most of you will know the Labour controlled council in Bury voted to address a funding gap back in February this year. The cuts announced by the council include the closure of civic venues The Elizabethan Suite in Bury and The Longfield Suite in Prestwich. If you’d like to read more about it please click here.
Sadly this will impact Community Baptist Church as our home for many years isn’t going to be reopening post lockdown. We have enjoyed such wonderful and fruitful times at The Longfield Suite and it’s been a real blessing over the years.
However it is now time to move on. Pastor and other church members have been searching for alternative facilities but due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions and rules this has been difficult to resolve. From discussions we’ve had it’s unlikely that any venues will be available prior to the 21 June date given by the government for all legal limits on social contact to be lifted.
Please be in prayer about this over the coming weeks. We need to find a solution. We pray that the Covid-19 figures will continue to improve to the point where the government will allow normality to resume and venues across the borough to consider allowing new groups into their spaces.
Let’s not be disheartened because we have an advocate working on our behalf. We pray that He will direct our paths.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
