Accident or design – how did we get here?

Date and time: Sunday 28 November 2021, 10:45am

Community Baptist Church is pleased to announce a forthcoming talk on Creation by Dr Steve Taylor, Professor of Physical Electronics, Liverpool University. Dr Taylor became a Christian at the age of 16 by seeking forgiveness for his sins and committing his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Although aware of the apparent contradiction between science and the Bible, the fact that Jesus believed in the Genesis account as historically true was enough to convince him as a young Christian that he should also. The disciple is not above His Lord. Many years later, he is more than ever convinced not only of the truth of the Christian Gospel, but also of the harmony between the biblical revelation and true science.

The talk: Whether we look through the telescope or the microscope we see design. ATP synthase is one of the wonders of the molecular world. It is an enzyme, a molecular motor, an ion pump, and a molecular generator all bound together in one amazing nanoscale electrical machine. It plays an indispensable role in our cells, providing the energy that powers our bodily processes. Is it credible that such sophisticated engineering could have been formed by chance over millions of years? The evidence points strongly to Design and ATP synthase is a witness to the skill and ingenuity of the Designer. There is no convincing evolutionary explanation for ATP which is essential to all of life. According to design criteria set by evolutionists (JSB Haldane) ATP presents a defeating argument (for molecules-to man evolution).

Material covered: The overwhelming evidence for design in natural world and the folly of atheism. Naturalism is shown to be unreasonable, unscientific and unhelpful. In contrast the Christian worldview is based on facts, evidence and history. This has led many great scientists, past and present to be active Christians. ATP a test case against atheistic evolution

Dr Taylor uses his extensive technical experience to state reasons for his belief as a scientist and engineer in an eternal, all-powerful, all-wise Creator God, a God who can be known and trusted.

We hope everyone will be able to participate in this forthcoming event, and as always, visitors are more than welcome. If you need any further information then please contact Pastor Alan.
