Beetles and Blessings

You ever have one of those weekends where you just feel blessed?

Well this was one of those weekends for Community Baptist Church.

Who would have thought that a little “creeping thing” would be such an interesting topic and a great challenge to the evolutionary narrative of this present day.

Professor Andy McIntosh brought to us a wonderful presentation on the bombardier beetle and its incredible design. Its defence mechanism allows it to fire hot noxious chemical spray at any predator that it comes in contact with. The way that its little body combines hydroquinone and hydrogen peroxide with a catalyst that is then forced out at near boiling point is staggering, and once again shows all the hallmarks of intelligent design.

The Bible says “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold (suppress) the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.” (Romans 1:18-19) May we never suppress God’s truths or shy away from talking about His incredible creation.

So we thank God not only for the presentation and message Andy brought to us this weekend, but also the wonders of seeing so many first time visitors in church. Beetles and blessings! Praise God.

Let us never get weary of thanking God for even the smallest things on the planet, because we don’t only get to see God’s design in the heavens and bigger things of life, but also under our feet within the “creeping things” of His creation.
