The Big 20

We thank and praise God for a major milestone that has been achieved this week.

Community Baptist Church is 20 years old and counting. Yes, the 20th anniversary is upon us and we have much to thank God for over the last 2 decades. On the 21st December 2003 we held our first formal service using the facilities of a local primary school in Whitefield.

At times we’ve felt a little nomadic, having to use a range of facilities from schools to community centres and sometimes even the facilities of other religious organisations, but God is good. Like Moses leading Israel from the Red Sea into the wilderness, God has continued to lead and direct the Church.

As a Church we have clung to that scripture in Matthew 19:26 “but with God all things are possible”, and without Him, nothing would be possible. We cannot operate without relying on His eternal strength.

So we continue to thank God for all His provisions and the rich blessings He’s bestowed upon us during the years. We are so grateful for the many folks who’ve entered the doors of Community Baptist. So many people who we’ve had the pleasure of meeting and ministering to. It’s been a blessing to see many lives changed and hearts touched by the Word of God.

Thank you to everyone who’s been involved with the Church throughout the last 20 years. Each and every one of you is a blessing, and a gift from God.

And speaking of “gifts” we were digging through the church photo collection and came across the following picture. It’s from one of our earliest services and the message was simply called “The Gift”. A simple message, but one that rings true just as much today as it did 20 years ago.

The reason Community Baptist exists is to claim that simple but eternal message, that God sent his Son as a free gift to a lost and dying world. As we read in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.

In those 20 years that message hasn’t changed. The Gift is still available, our sins can still be forgiven and our destiny can still be changed through Him.

We praise and thank God for the last 20 years and are excited about what the future holds.
