Because He Lives

Luke 24:6 says “He is not here, but is risen

Luke 24 is one of the most incredible passages of scripture in the entire bible. It’s a sensational, exciting and most importantly, life changing event for the women who were first to see the empty tomb.

We serve a risen Saviour folks. He’s not dead, but He’s alive. He didn’t stay in that tomb, but He arose from the grave. As Christians our lives are built on the fact that the stone was rolled away, that the tomb was empty and that we serve a risen Saviour.

It’s only because He lives that we have any hope at all. The words of the classic 1971 hymn ‘Because He Lives’ by Bill & Gloria Gaither are incredibly poignant on a day like today.

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

We don’t serve a dead God church. We serve a risen Saviour. Hallelujah!
