Lockdown 2

The Queen once referred to 1992 as an “annus horribilis” a Latin phrase for a horrible year. She said “1992 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure”.

Well I think it’s safe to say that 2020 has well and truly trumped 1992 as an annus horribilis. It’s a been a really horrible year for so many people who have struggled to deal with the virus and the knock-on consequences.

We started the year with a lockdown and as fast move towards its end we are now in national lockdown 2.

As a church we continue to operate but with all of the restrictions we’ve had to contend with throughout most of the year. The lockdown doesn’t allow churches to congregate and so we continue to produce our weekly materials which we hope you are all receiving. If not then please contact Pastor Alan.

Once the lockdown ends we are still unlikely to have facilities to immediately recommence our worship. As you all know The Longfield Suite has not reopened since the first lockdown and other avenues we’ve attempted to go down have been blocked.

As an example, one local venue said they’d be unable to facilitate Community Baptist Church during the pandemic due to:

  • Risk assessments
  • Track and trace
  • Deep cleaning of the venue before and after its use

We know God’s hand is upon us and He knows our every need. We thank you for your ongoing faithfulness to the ministry. We also ask everyone to continue to pray for a longterm solution to our ongoing requirements for a place to meet.

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Matthew 6:26
